I started BED in 2018 with hopes and ambitions to grow into a comprehensive educational resource for kinksters and watched some of those dreams come true. (Visit our newly updated Libraries to see how they’ve grown.)

We were going strong in 2019 until a core member of our Founding Board, Queen Raini, passed away.  It was a blow to our Board and our dreams.  In 2021, I am coping with the sudden passing of another Board member, my dear sweet husband of 32 years, Will. (memorials here)

Meanwhile, we’ve been living through the COVID nightmare. The pandemic closed BDSM clubs and postponed kinky events, but kink life itself went on, thanks to the Internet. Lots of new friendships and alliances were created and solidified as we all scrambled to get our kink-community fixes through streaming experiences.

My thoughts are on the future and what’s next, for BED, for our Communities, and for my personal life. For BED, our Board has not met in almost two years, so we are still on hold: you’ll be the first to know of any changes we plan to implement. The directories are dormant for now, but the Libraries have solid legs and will stand for years.

For the kink Communities at large, I hope we’ll keep using ZOOM and other streaming platforms to educate and hang out. But, seriously, there is no substitute for the hugs you get in 3D, so I think social events will come back strong.

Personally, I’ve been channeling my energy forward — updating and redesigning my website, writing more, and giving my all to my therapy practice and some cool new BDSM-educational initiatives. Visit my blog, then join my newsletter to keep up with my thoughts and projects.

Stay healthy, stay strong, and be a survivor like me. I’ll write to you when I have more BED news.

love, Gloria
