It’s been quiet around here because your humble Educatrix’s evil twin, Gloria Brame, was busy working on a BDSM novel all summer. Now that she’s able to focus on BDSM history again, she’s opened her brain channel to me once more. 🙂
Our happiest news is that while the Educatrix (er, I mean her evil twin) was away, we received an application from legendary Leatherman and Kink educator, Hardy Haberman, joining his distinguished company to our list of accomplished educators. Visit the heart of bed, our Educator’s Directory, and look for Hardy in the nice bright red print to designate his new acceptance to our listings.
In Library news, we’ve added two brand new categories images to the recently redesigned Mistress Michelle Peters Collection. Explore the beginnings of Leather/Kink, and how they’ve radically evolved over the past 70 years in our two 40-image (total of 80) galleries of Gay Leather Publications.
In Part 1, we start with the first traces of kink in physique magazines and end with the infamous Colt Leather Catalogues. Part 2 starts off with Leather front and center in a wide range of vintage gay magazines (including special issues) and expands into vintage foreign Leather magazines that speak to the globalization of the gay leather community.
If you love Leather, and you like men, you’ll love to see the all-new ground that our predecessors broke for us. When many of these magazines were published, everyone involved put themselves at direct risk of exposure and arrest. We owe them so much for their fearless commitment to keeping the Leather spirit alive and thriving even through harrowing times.
Finally, I’ve done a little menu tweaking around the site. Hopefully, pages will be a little easier to find for you and a bit more sensibly organized so you can get to where you’re going faster. Let me know if you have problems finding pages and I’ll get on it…I mean, now that my evil twin has been released from her creative bonds for a while. 😉
